The premature aging and sagging of the skin in the cheek and neck area no longer need to be tolerated and can be optimally corrected through a facelift (also called facelifting) nowadays. The techniques have become much gentler and less risky. One can also 'age gracefully' with less excess skin.

Pre-surgery

Please wash your hair before the operation. To achieve better wound healing, it is advisable to limit smoking one week before and after the procedure and avoid taking anticoagulant medications (Aspirin, Marcumar, etc.). Hair dyeing and tinting can be done up to 2 days before the surgery or at least 4 weeks after the surgery.

Facelifting Operation

A natural facial expression should be preserved at all costs. A detailed and standardized surgical technique is the best prerequisite for success in facelifting. Excess skin, subcutaneous tissue, muscles, and fat tissue are removed, and the remaining tissue is reattached to its original position. This preserves the natural individual facial features and reverses the effects of gravity.
In modern facelifting, the incisions are placed so precisely around the ear and within the skin folds that they are already minimally visible after the first few days. The underlying structure (SMAS) and the neck muscle (Platysma) are also addressed, reducing tension on the outer scars and promoting wound healing.

Special instruments

For the gentle facelift operation, Dr. Solz has developed a special set of instruments. These include the facelift scissors by Dr. Solz. These include the facelift scissors by Dr. Solz in 20cm and 15cm (Baby Solz), and the Racket retractor. These are distributed worldwide by the company Medicon. The use of these special facelift scissors results in reduced bleeding during the facelift operation and allows for gentle tissue handling. Betäubung beim Facelifting

It has proven effective to perform this procedure under 'twilight sedation' and local anesthesia. This way, the cardiovascular system is not heavily stressed, and the risks of postoperative bleeding are minimized. An anesthesiologist is present throughout the entire procedure, monitoring vital functions. Of course, the procedure can also be performed under general anesthesia. The decision regarding the best type of anesthesia lies with the anesthesiologist, patient, and surgeon.

Hospital stay

A hospital stay is not required. Typically, patients remain in our facilities (recovery room) for 2-3 hours before going home.

Nach dem Facelifting

Elevate the head for 3-4 days to avoid swelling. Wash hair after 3 days. Apply makeup on the face after 3 days (avoiding the scars!). Suture and staple removal after 14 days.
